CHRIS TURNBULL

Tracking down Chris Turnbull after his escape:

The Writers' Wing would like to welcome its next inmate, Victorian crime fiction writer Chris Turnbull.

I'm Chris, reading and eriting have always been a passion of mine, I love the feeling of being drawn into a good book and escaping into another world.

Writing has been something that has been with me from a young age, and creating characters is something I particularly enjoy.

My writing is almost always set in the past, I love finding out about times gone by and try to include the knowledge I learn about the era into my book, and hopefully you too may learn something you didn't know before.

Chris now lives on the outskirts of York with his partner and their Jack Russell terrier.

THE INTERROGATION

Who is your cellmate, and why?

Author Dawn Singh. I have known Dawn for many years, and if I am in jail it will be because of something she had gotten me into for sure…

Which four books would you choose to pass the time with, and why?

Myself and Dawn are both huge Harry Potter fans, and that is one of the things that has been our connection for so many years, so it would have to be four of those so that we can share them.

Which one of your own literary creations would you choose to visit you, and why?

I would love to say Emy, from my children’s book A Home For Emy, but just in case dogs are not allowed to visit us I would probably choose Charlie from my first published book The Vintage Coat. Charlie is a good laugh and I think he would easily help us pass the time with humour.

The Planting of the Penny Hedge, Chris's Victorian crime fiction novel is out now. Other publications by Chris are:

The Vintage Coat(WW2 time novel)

D: Darkest Beginnings(Short story / prequel)

D: Whitby’s Darkest Secret(Victorian crime fiction)

D: Revenge Hits London(Victorian crime fiction)

Carousel (Parisian Time Novel)

A Home for Emy(children’s book)

Emy Gets a Sister(children’s book)

It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas(family book)
